Cutting Edge brings to light a problem facing the people in the Western Cape’s Khayelitsha, the gurans, a name given to a fight match between two feuding gangs. Although a lot of the Western Cape’s gangsterism has been exposed, Khayelitsha’s gangs are those that involve very young boys, mostly in their teens and unable to go to school because of this problem.
The gurans happen almost on a daily basis, especially on Fridays, leaving many with life-long injuries or deaths.
Watch Cutting Edge Thursdays at 21h30 on SABC 1.
Cutting Edge is the first of its kind in the country, an investigative programme for Africans produced by Africans in African languages. The programme depicts the story of South African youth, giving a voice to the usually voiceless, the ordinary youth of Mzansi. The show is here to inform, educate, empower and uplift tomorrow’s nation. It presents realities of life as in corruption, health, education, labour, politics, arts, culture and sports.
