My World 7 – Eps 4: Jankie Makopa

Botswana born poet and songwriter, Ofentse “Jankie” Makopa, fondly known to his fans, family and friends, as Jankie Makopa, embodies the saying that “by giving hope to a generation, a spark is all it takes to set change in motion”. Jankie Makopa was born on 26th October 1985 in Kagiso, Mogale City.

He both sings and raps in Setswana; he can be likened to a black diamond, a rare but exquisite gem. A mouth piece to many a people, he has chosen to look at his trials as a stepping stone to move closer to his purpose. Having worked with heavyweights such as Mafikizolo, Jankie is paving his way into his rightful place in the music industry.

My World Series is a celebration of the creative discipline and the burning need for self-expression, community and pride. My World delves deeper into characters and explore their worlds. It
goes bigger and focuses on big names, giving them a human face. The series explores their successes, disappointments and even contradictions at times. It includes other racial groups and
cover peri-urban areas. This new season of the show also connects viewers through interactive networks.
